Ingrown toenail

Ingrown toenail Due to either a foot deformity, abnormality of the nail or wearing badly fitting shoes, the sharp edge of the nail becomes embedded in the flesh causing inflammation. Frequently caused by cutting toenails improperly.

  • Symptoms
Symptoms are typically a painful, infected growth in the tissue around the nail. At this stage surgical excision of the edge of the nail is required.

Ingrown toenail treatment by Spange - but which one?

Benőtt lábköröm, spangeTreating an ingrown toenail (unguis incarnatus) always requires great attention on the part of the pedicure specialist or doctor. They can be a particular problem for people suffering from diabetes. Due to poor healing ability, experts often shy away from accepting the risk, leaving the diabetes sufferer in pain with a half-baked solution. Today treatment by 3TO Spange has been successfully used in many countries. In Germany the health insurer also supports this procedure, which is performed by pedicure specialists.

The Spange Technique was invented by the Scottish dental technician R. Fraser in 1964. The Fraser-Spange or Omega-Spange nail brace was an excellent invention. Unfortunately, it is very costly and time-consuming to make as a plaster impression of the patient's toenail must be made prior to fitting and the spange wire set accordingly. So the patient has to come twice. This method is only suitable for cases without inflammation as the spange must be applied from the direction of the corner points, where inflammation can occur.

Ingrown toenailThis was followed by the BS Spange. This is a special plastic band which must be adhered to the toenail. Due to the grooved surface of the toenails adhesion is not always perfect and within a few days the small plate drops off. Moreover, in most cases the thickness of the toenail is greater than that of the plate, thus its pulling power is only effective with very weak thin nails. In the Onyklip Spange a steel wire was added to reinforce the plastic plate and its fitting and effect is the same as the BS Spange's. These two spanges have over the years demonstrated that adhering a plate to the surface of the nail is not enough to regulate the nail's growth. The ingrown toenail has to be corrected from the edge for it to be effective.

Ingrown toenail , spangeThe 3TO Spange is ideal for regulating the nail, enabling the ingrown toenail to perfectly and permanently recover. The spange is made of stainless steel and consists of three parts, which means it can also be fitted on an inflamed ingrown toenail as it is positioned beneath the inflammation.

A procedure that can be used immediately to treat patients.
The treatment can be used for people of either gender, of all ages and is not restricted by other illnesses. It works on the principle of a dental brace. It can be used by sportsmen and women, and people with active jobs as it does not inhibit movement. It is almost imperceptible on the toenail, although for women it could even be adorned with an imitation diamond! Experienced pedicure specialists can learn the 3TO Spange technique on a one-day course at two places in Hungary, in Budapest and Kaposvár.
Today we recommend it not only with the testimonials of satisfied customers but also with the support of doctors.

    Doctors who acknowledge its benefits:
    - Dr. Zsuzsanna Biczó, dermatologist
    - Dr. Lajos Gyarmati, physician
    - Dr. Károly Szántai, head physician
